Bob Smith is flying high
Default To Limewire Pro or Not?

I have several video files I would like to download But I am never able to connect with their hosts. Will going pro help with this or does this have to do with the hosts settings? I have a cable connection how fast can I expect down loads to be?
Thanks for any info you have on LW Pro.

Bob

Pro does connect to more hosts (I read that it connects to 6 unlike Basic's 4 connections), but it may well be host settings as you said: maybe they're behind a firewall (and maybe you're too so it makes it double difficult for LW to connect). It could also be that your ISP is controlling p2p traffic comming its way (try calling them for that). The latter could be the case especially if you don't seem to have much success with the downloads (any dlds).
Telling us that you have cable connection doesn't tell us how fast you can dld/upload since there are many different connection speeds. What connection speeds are you paying for? Also, ISP advertise their internet services using kbps, not kBps. That makes a whole lot of a difference since most p2p apps I know of use the kBps display and 1kBps=8kbps, so if your connection speed is, say, a 512kbps DSL, then you would theoretically be able to dld at 64kBps (which, again, equals 512kbps).

If you have difficulties to download something, Pro won't help at all. Pro only makes fast transfers faster (ie there are a lot of sources available giving uploads), if you can't already max out your connection.

The best way to get fast speeds is to open your firewall/router on port 6346. (for more info search the forums)

Bonne chance
