what can i expect?

i used the speed test.
download : 950~Kbps
upload : 92~Kbps

I am currently getting about 120KB when i download, now this doesn't change that much from 1-5 simultaneous downloads, after that it slows down, i thought this was due to the drive head speed limitations, am i right?

Also, being my first ever post, i'd like to ask a long nagging question, and the one to which i even joined this forum for after searching to no avail....
Does Sharing actually help download speeds?
or even connections? the only down point i can fathom, is getting blocked by more zealous users. I need some scientific help to help me choose?!
