Very helpfull thread folks, thanks to all the contributors.

One question. If I was to do a search for say just the year and get some results and then begin down loading one, will it find less hosts/DL slower, than if I did a direct search. Just wondering because someone told me this was so.

One more question. What is T1 and T3, and what happened to T2, was he not invited to play any of these reindeer games?

I use NetZero DSL. I did a broadband speed test on the net and found I get 79 kbps (9.88 KBps) download speed, and 33 kbps (4.13 KBps) upload speed. This from DSL.

I've also got ActiveSpeed to boost my speed (although I cant see the results when i'm downloading) and I see the brick wall over the planet on LimeWire to show a firewall (not sure if it's Window's or Norton Internet Security). I've checked "exception" for the Window's firewall and checked "allow" for the Norton.

The irony is, when I first purchased NetZero DSL my download speed (on LimeWire) got up over 25 KBps but since then it's gone down and I can't figure out why.

Anything in the MB range will take me anywhere from half-a-day to a day-and-a-half to download.

I copied the advise from the initial post on this thread and attempted to apply that advise but my download speed hasn't changed. Others are having success and I'd like to be among them.

Any suggestions?

I would contact your ISP and ask them why you are getting those speeds, check to see what plan you are on and what your monthly allowance is..

I contacted NetZero. They say I should get "up to" 1.5 mbps in download speed - which is quite a difference from 79 kbps. But, they also said I share a line with other subscribers so my download time could be slower - and my speed could be affected by the distance from the main server (which he could not tell me its location).

All of this would be telling if I hadn't, initially, gotten faster LimeWire download time with the same server.

This stuff can get complicated.

I don't think I would except that...Because when you did a linespeed test it's not testing your limewire download speed, it's testing your overall speed and your ISP is responsible for that...
I would ring them back and strongly suggest that they supply the speed you are paying for in your contract or offer you a discount or let you out of your contract so you can go with an ISP that will deliver what you pay for...
Stand up to them...

Yeah, I told them I wanted to cancel the service and the rep gave me a month free. All I'm really after is faster downloads with LimeWire.

Looking into going with another ISP but don't want to fall for some hype promotion and wind up with the same slow downloads.

Good on you at least you got something...
If you do decide to go with another ISP make sure you do some research, there are so many that shape p2p so bad to the point you can't even get a connection...

Default Great information! Can you also help me with an error message that I am recieving?

Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network. Nothing ever happens after that. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
