Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. the perfect limewire slogan I've been doing some thinking, and I've got the perfect slogan for this program. "Limewire - Bend Over Just a LITTLE farther!" seriously, kazaa sucks, and I know that now, my friend told me about limewire and I checked it out, and it seemed okay...but after multiple issues, what happened tonight just made me snap. A simple song search is all I wanted...really it was. ***. So I go in, cllick audio, under title I type in "edited" and under Artist I type in "edited" and just sit back and wait for the results... 659 results... 658 - edited 1 - edited yeah thats exactly what I was looking for... Now this is just me speaking, butedited....those 2 ARE different right? Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but... After 4 tries I finally get what I was looking for. And limewire didn't lie about their download speeds though ,thats for sure...it IS faster then kazaa! Where kazaa has us downloading at speeds up to .02 k/s, limewire is giving us amazing speeds of up to 5 WHOLE k a second! (on average, some where higher, most were lower, and all downloading from at least a T1 host) I think my favorite part about Limewire is the video selection. I love searching for music videos and getting porn instead! That tracy trix or whatver...wow! I love it so much that I throw up everytime I hear that name now... Rant over, limewire is a horrible HORRIBLE program, and I'd suggest to anyone looking for a p2p program to have their gums scraped violently before hand, just to get a sample of what using limewire will be like! "Limewire - Bend Over Just a LITTLE farther!" And be prepared to wait and wAit and WAIt and WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT. I'm in my 3rd DAY of looking at "Awaiting Sources" My pane shows "Turbo Charged" and my cable modem is indicting data flow but NOTHING. Idtion that I was I figured if I PAID tfor the program I'd get a bit better results than with the free one. Compared to Limewire, Kazaa and the others are superfast. I was raised with the idea that you get what you pay for: WRONG |

You haven't done much searching around the forum about how to optimise your uploads & configuration have you? I think I saw the forum rules in a sticky at the top of the index but I just couldn't be bothered! Be bothered to read other threads on the forum before you make a post so you won't look silly. First example & 2nd example I bought a ball point pen & when I wiped it all over my face I ended up with ink all over. That's certainly not what I paid for. Perhaps I should have gone to shcool to learn wht it's used for 1st. Sorry I'm just having a joke. Don't take it too seriously. It can get really boring sometimes with people asking same questions or obviously not realising the answers to their questions are already on the forum. lol Don't take it the wrong way! am i RIGHT Those wre only 2 examples, there's plenty around the forum about how to improve your search techniques & results & resulting connections. I didn't quote your snotty reply because of length restrictions. If you can figure out what the problem with "Awaiting Soure" showing for 2 and three days from the various subject captions in these forums, you're a better man than I am Gunga Din. I find it ridiculous to have to scan through dozens (hundreds) of posts to find something that SHOULD have been answered in the wholly inadequate manual availavle thru the base site or in the FAQs, And the "Help" is about as helpful as throwing an anvil to a drowning man. Yo people! Looks like you're all having fun here. Well anyway, I'm not trying to butt in your friendly discussion here, but I want to clarify, or rather, make sure something is a known fact for all parties: the "Awaiting sources" status indicates that Limewire has 'given up' on the download, meaning that it won't try looking for new files anymore: LW likes (=needs) to be babysitted a lot and requires the user(s) to check up on it as often as possible. "Why?" you (would) ask me. I'm not a developper/techie and certainly not an expert in the matter, but from what I've read here, Limewire devs decided to abandon the auto-search-for-new-sources feature because it slowed down the Gnutella net. How? By constantly bombarding the net with search messages from a gazillion hosts. Result? Now we have to re-search for the files manually whenever we get the dreaded "Awaiting Sources" status in downloads. This results in a faster network and some frustrated users (much like Hilander), who wait for their downloads to leave the "Awaiting Sources status without knowing that they have to re-run a search for the file again to have a hope of achieving that. Yup, it can be frustrating, but it's for the good of everyone. As for graffin, I have to say this: I can't really say much about Kazaa since I've used it only a little on a friend's machine (poor *******) and, now that I have my own comp, it is incompatible with Macs (thank Gawd ). I, for one, am very very satisfied with Limewire (click the 2nd example on Lord's post to see how satisfied I am) and it's speeds are far superior to Kazaa's from what I've witnessed, as it takes advantage of virtually my entire bandwidth (how faster than that can you get?) while Kazaa went rarely above 10KBs (might have been that it was not configurated for optimal performance but I doubt it). And the search results? That is not Limewire's fault: it's the users'. No, not all users, but some will intentionally rename a file and add a truckload of "popular" keywords to ensure that when you type in to find the trailer for the new Spiderman movie you get some stupid old porn instead. Limewire, and just about any other client on the Gnutella network cannot do anything about it. The devs just make the programs. The users then serve the files they want. What you could do, is: if you notice an IP adress that has given you only false files then ban it. Ban the damn host. And good riddance to the lecher. 'k, at present I will let you continue your joyous conversation. Enjoy the Olympic Games everyone (they're being held in my home country so you'd better )

Thanks for the clarification murasame. Not sure what the diff b'w awaiting more resources & need more... is; I guess it equates to the same thing. It's that time of the night for me. Enough & enough for this thread for me. Oh just a last note you don't have to scan thru every thread in the forum. If you choose the searches I suggested above, you'll find your answer quicksmart believe me. So how much gold will the greek goddesses bring home? |

And, not that it matters, but I had already done ALL of the steps recommended in your linked messages. My complaint is that information which SHOULD be readily to hand seems to be only finable in these forus. or have you NOT looked at the "User's Guide" which is about as useful as a condom in a convent.
