Strange upload, Am I being targeted? I was on the network last night and when I checked my uploads, the first file uploaded was a text file: iTunes Music Library.xml If I view this file in my text reader, it is basically a coded list of my songs and playlists. Why and how would anyone get this? I'm just feeling a little paranoid. Boris |

Are you sure it's a list of YOUR iTunes playlist? Macs are given a certain default playlist, ie: with each installation we automatically get tunes that come with iTunes. I can't even find an .xml file on my entire computer. Do you have an AV app? If so it might be an idea to check just in case. Apparently there's certain sources out there that identify gnutella searches & utilize it in sertain ways. If anybody is sharing their entire iTunes lib as I do, then I suppose it's up for anybody to identify these files. Be warned!: xml's found on the gnutella are very suspicious files, don't be opening them will you. Do a search of 'xml' on the forum (without the rabbit ears of course.) See post 6 of Quality of Content on the Network . |

Lord of the ring: are you sure you know how to search? Do apple-f in the finder and search for .xml, one of the result will be iTunes Music Library.xml in /user/music/itunes This means that Boris shares his iTunes folder, that's all. You can find "iTunes Music Library.xml" by searching "iTunes Music Library.xml" in LW with any type or by browsing the shared folders of an user. If the user love the same type of music as you, you can be tempted to download his "iTunes Music Library.xml" to get to know other artists and tunes, that's all. This is not a virus and while I don't use that mean to find content I might like, this a great idea to do so. Some people are "really" paranoid.... And no LODR, you don't need an AV on mac... I had to post, this thread was too paranoid...

Good on you griff3, you tell them! Funny how microsoft can't keep away from copying mac gui's. xp is so mac, it's a joke. Yet ms never gets anything right. As griff3 pointed out. How many bugs do ms users have to put up with with each update. Talk about incompetence. Yeah & that issue about crashes; that's one part of osx I really do love! The ram management of osx is very reassuring. ms os's even limit the ram their users can use. Wonder why. I can use 3 os's simultaneously on my comp, chicagojohn is restricted to a single bug infested, extremely virus prone, limited os (unless you're programming I guess.) [xp Sounds like a critter from LOTR.] "cool waters" get very cold when something goes wrong. hehehe I had to get u back! |

Cold H2O is Good For The Constitution LOTR: I find it interesting that you didn't know you can run Multi OS in Windows. Further I avoid 98% of the "issues" that come to Windows users because I treat my system like a lady--a high class raven haired beauty with a fine engine and big, ahem, ahem, towel please! Seriously, Many of the issues people complain about in Windows can all be easily fixed, bypassed, etc. with some simple logic and planning. If you take the time to anticipate issues and read current Windows Tech docs you can have a really nice system. I'd say 99% of the end-user problems I deal with are because of something they did--not the OS. The few Mac OS clients I've dealt with have issues too--just of a different nature. You missed the part of my response that said, "...both OS' have their strengths and weaknesses." You know the old song, "Anything you can do, I can do better....?" Well... I forgot what I was going to say... It's 0300, time to go to bed.... Best CJ |

Here we go, here's a hardball: Oh please don't touch me that way! Go UltraNEO* Hehehe what sacrifices! What Xp user could possibly go w/o to get their hands on the messed up os xp is? Hahahaha!!!!! Get Win me/98 or mac anything or nothing - hey u better save up 1st. Sorry for the wrong impressions there despite the language! Hehehhe i can't help myself. All too many paradoxes at once!
