I suppose the morpheus developers do it the same way.

Not necessarily, some antivirus detectors, such as AVG sometimes detect some things as a virus. As long as everyone using AntiVirus software keep there definitions up-to-date everything will be fine.

I can´t remember which scanners, but there were more people who reported this.... funny was that the Limewire developers removed this crap after some weeks...

Well, maybe it was a virus, but maybe they wanted to have a fresh start by releasing v4.0 free of any bundles. Who knows, only they do.

I talked with Adam Fisk (a former developer) about it he told me some things... the bad thing is that I deleted all my PMs some time ago.

Damn, that sucks! Maybe it would have been good to know the real truth behind LimeWire LLC

It was not a virus, some virus scanners decieded to consider this a trojan because it was capable of downloading other programs and installing them without asking the user. - By itself it may not have been dangerous but it was a big security risk.

The reason 4.0 is free of any bundles is obviously a new business strategy. There are apparently enough Pro customers to finance further development and by not bundling any software, LimeWire gains credibility and even more users. Ever since spyware became an issue for the average user, bundling software became just bad advertising.

Personally, I don't believe that spyware/adware is really that bad, if you know what your doing, you can always get rid of it again and it's usually not really malicious. It may try gathering some information about surfing habits but you can do the same and more using a couple of webservers and a lot of cookies. If you ever wondered what google is putting into all that cookies it stores in your browser or where those fastclick/hitbox cookies come from, they are for tracking surfing habits, storing which searches you enter in google, which google ads you click. With its market-share, Google can monitor surfers on every website that displays Google ads.

Clicktillyouwin was in LW 2.6 AFAIK, after that they were mainly bundling LimeShop. - Can't seem to remember who they licensed it from, it was not really their own invention.... Was one of the more common pieces of bundled software at the time.

And so do I about Morpheus.

@ Vampmon: T R O L L ! ! !

At least with LW they didn't bundle crap on Mac and Linux and it was possible to compile your own version as I do (trap_jaw too) now. Those things can't be said about the POS company that builds Moprheus isn't it?

Edit: LW came with spywares between released versions 1.8 and 3.8.

et voilà, why don’t you stop being so bias about Morpheus. I am trying to be fair with LimeWire, I even defend it when it’s needed, but you try your all time best to drag Morpheus down, well I’m sorry volia, but it’s not going to work.

Wow knowing what you say on other forums like zeropaid about LW, I think you deserve a:

STOP ACTING AS A TROLL!

I'd like one time that you REALLY read one of my post, then you would realize it all makes sense.
