Shared directories aren't recursive?

I'm using the plain java version of LW 1.4 on Solaris. When I try to share a directory, the subdirectories are not searched. My music collection is categorized into artist and album by directory and it would be very tedious to list all these by hand.

Is this a feature or did I miss something?
