Version 1.4 Question How does the quality thing "rate" people... is it based on speed, up-time, ping times, etc.? Also... why does limewire 1.4 every so often max out my CPU... this seems to happen on start up...(I don't mean during actual 'startup' but when I'm looking for hosts...) I know that Limewire traditionally used more resources... but maxing my CPU and taking 20MB of my swap file seems a little on the high side... The rating system is based,i believe,on the chances of the download succeeding, available download slots etc.So far I've not had a 4 star d/l fail. Also the resume on startup feature works a treat too,I was in the middle of a lond download when (due to my fault) a system crash occured,on startup it resumed the download without prompting, lovely. As for the cpu usage,I've never had any problems with excess usage, and can happily carry on with other programs unhindered. |
I am having the same problems as you. I installed Limewire just fine. The version before worked fine. But just after startup, It taxes my system resources and eventually stop responding. My System: 1000Mhz Athlon 396MB PC133 RAM 60GB Ultra2 Scsi Cheetah Drives OS: Windows 2000 Professional w/ SP2 I just re-installed my os yesterday and added the new Limewire. |
Yeah I probably should've included specs... Duron 700 FIC AZ11 Mobo 128Mb Ram (PC133 Cas2) Win 2K Pro (SP1) I'm wondering if its a problem on Win2k... after it gets going the CPU usage drops below 5% which is okay; it's just while it's connecting that it taxes my computer a lot more than I thought it should... |
Cpu at 100% since I switched to 1.4. 933 Mhz 512 M Ram SCSI HDs Win NT 4.0 SP6a I am not sure whats up but it doesn't seem to be a W2K thing. H |
well that's probably it... I'm sharing 2000+ files... |
