![]() Okay, i have a few questions regarding LimeWire, which i have had for a few months, basic version, cause i'm cheap. >Anyhow, i do not think i will ever upgrade again to another free version, because it seems to get harder and harder to find movie files. Any word on the next version? lol. >Has anyone any keywords that will get me different movies, than the same ones with different names. >why does AVI and MPG, and MOV all work in quicktime, is one better than the other? >This is a question regarding WMV files. I have MAC OS X, and it seems that they work, most of them are fake ones, with URL's to other sites, but the ones that do work are sketchy and sloppy, and skip alot. Is there any way around this? Oh and a warning, it may just be me, but the MPG files where it's from Danni.com, start before i press play, close out of quicktime, unexpectantly, and are all around a waste. |

![]() >Gnutella is better for music. Movies are easier to get from other nets (of course, the easiest way to get them is to buy them or rent them, but you said you're cheap...). That you seem to be finding less and less "true" movie files in Gnutella with each new version of LW is merely because of what the users share (or don't). LW has no control over it. So, even if you stay at the same version, you'll still see less movies, plus you won't benefit from any new features (or worse, any enhancements in dld/upload or something) >If anyone has any specific keywords and posts them, they will most likely get deleted by mods (me, for example). Read the rules to find out why. The only thing I will say about this is to look for files around 700MegB size for a decent .avi movie. >.avi, .mpg and .mov all work in Quicktime because Quicktime has the codecs to play them (not all .avi and .mpg will play in Quicktime for various reasons). With mpgs you can get better quality than .avi, but the files will be larger. Same goes for .mov. .mov is (I think) a Quicktime specific file. One might think that because of that, it might play better in that player, but that's not always true. Also, you may encounter .avi that doesn't play. That's because you don't have the codecs to play it. VLC (www.videolan.org) will play them fine (and don't you worry: it's free) >.wmv files suck: for Windoze users, they can get them all sortathings in their comps because of Windows Media Player. For us Mac users, .wmv are just annoying crap-quality files. Plus, the OS X Windows Media Player is even crappier than the files. Fortunately, .wmvs can be played in other players (VLC for example). Plus, I don't think that playing them on another player will redirect you to a site like they do with WMP.
