Blue Screen problem please help Please help, I've installed the newest version of LimeWire but when ever I try and use it I get a blue screen reboot. Sometimes it happens after 10 minutes and sometimes less. I've read all the help pages on BSOD but the only info it gives me is to uninstall the program. Surely there must be a way to stop this happening whilst I'm using Limewire. If its any help the BSOD always says its a 0x000000D1. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers |

I've seen threads about this in the past. Do a search on the forum for 'Blue Screen' or 'Blue' : http://www.gnutellaforums.com/search.php |

Still Blue Screen Shut Down I have uninstalled LW (what a pain that was), updated Java, installed SP2 (did not have before), scanned computer, updated DirectX 9.0 SDK, re-installed LW 4.0 (the all new and improved haha). "I STILL GET THE STUPID BLUE SCREEN" after only 10 minutes of running program instead of 30 minutes like before. Now don't tell me to search for "blue screen", because I have and done everything you wonderfull people have said to do. WTF do I do now???????????? v/r Blakecakes |

It's not LW after all !!! I wanted to say I'm sorry if I affended anyone with my last reply, I did some asking around and research, come to find out it's not LW that's doing all the "blue screen" shut downs. I fact it's a driver problem and I'm still try to find out witch driver of mine is bad. I can't figure out what video driver/card I've gone using the computer, think I need to pull it out and see witch one I've got inorder to fix the problem. Again sorry LW for accusing you and keep up the outstanding work you all are going. TY |

alright, I'm having the same exact problem. here's what I've found out so far...I can open LW as long as it's setup to where it doesn't automatically connect to the internet when it's opened.....AS SOON as I hit "connect" to connect to the internet, the blue screen flashes and the computer restarts. I've read several forums that would indicate a problem with my graphics card driver. I have a mobility radeon 9200 graphics card and all the drivers are up to date. I downloaded DirectX9.0 and my comp is not even 5 months old. Does anybody know what is wrong or how to fix it????? Thanks- |

biker, I have an idea of what may be causing this. If you could please find where "LimeWire.exe" is installed (generally at C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire <version>), add a file called "launch.properties" (all lowercase, without the quotes), and in it, put: -Dorg.apache.commons.logging.Log=org.apache.commons .logging.impl.NoOpLog -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xmaxf0.25 -Xminf0.10 -Xms4m -Xss64k -jar LimeWire.jar exactly like that. Then try starting LimeWire again. This will disable directdraw, which _may_ fix the problem. Let us know how it goes. (If you end up not being able to use LimeWire at all, just delete that launch.properties file.) |

No need to be embarrased. I assumed you were somewhat technical from the fact that you were able to search through a bunch of forums, upgrade your video card drivers, and update DirectX. It is good to know you don't need to be a comp sci major to do these things anymore. To get to the place to create the file, double click on 'My Computer', then double click on your hard drive (it should have C: after it). Then double click on 'Program Files', then 'LimeWire', and finally on the most recent 'LimeWire <version>' folder. Once you're there, right-click, choose 'New', and then 'Text Document'. It should create a new file called "Next Text Document.txt". Once you've created that, double-click on it -- it should open in Notepad. In notepad, paste the contents of the earlier post (I'll put them at the end of this one also) and then save the file and close notepad. After it's saved, rename that file by right-clicking on it and choosing 'Rename'. Rename it to "launch.properties" (without the quotes). Then open LimeWire again and see if it works... The contents of the new file should be: -Dorg.apache.commons.logging.Log=org.apache.commons .logging.impl.NoOpLog -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xmaxf0.25 -Xminf0.10 -Xms4m -Xss64k -jar LimeWire.jar Thanks. |
