Angry v1.6 problem

I downloaded v.1.6 fine, but then it tries to instal the java2 runtime environment and won't go any further. I don't know what is wrong.

Check to see if it (java2) is already installed. I think it will show up as version 1.3.1. I installed Lime 1.6d and it puked like you said at the JRE installer... only it worked fine when I just ignored the error.

nope, still nothing.....it goes through the download of the java2 thingy....but then it doesn't install (and I checked, it actually is not installed)....it just has the little box that says limewire is now installing the java2tm runtime environment, standard edition, v. 1.3.1. grr......this is frustrating.

Try this...

uninstall limewire
uninstall JRE

reboot

download JRE2 1.3.1 from java.sun.com
download LimeWire 1.6d from www.limewire.com

install JRE (first)
install limewire

this prevents Lime from installing it's own copy of the JRE and uses the official one from Sun instead. It could be the exact same JRE file for all I know... but the above is what I did and it's solved a half dozen problems I was having.
