download speed problem I went through and made the option changes per your recommendations. I have a download speed of 268 and upload of 70. But when I go to download the results come up and it takes forever for just 1 song or film clip....the speed is only 7-10. What am I doing wrong? Oh yeah I'm also new to this. Thanks, BK |

I do not have anyone uploading from me. I have a fast connection and its dowloading soooo slow!!!! I even tried a test as suggested, set my upload slots and such to ZERO, then try to download a song...its at a snails pace at a 3-4. Then I killed the download and put my settings back to where they were. PLEASE HELP ME!!! I like this place!!! BK |

So is your problem solved? Do this test & tell us the results: Bug Report instructions & sample image If your results are True then things are fine. If your result is False, then something's blocking LW. Most likely your modem which may require port forwarding to allow LW total access & not just partial access. |

Here's some pointers for optimising LW & maximising your uplds & dwnlds: A well set-up LW can start to continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. Give LW time to settle down after opening. Try not to resume too many files at one time otherwise it may play havoc with LW's connection quality & result in queuing of files for much, much longer than normal. Preferable to manually search & find new sources. |

Your connection is the same speed as mine. How many files do you attempt to dwnld at one time? And do you notice people uploading from you? My dwnld speeds vary depending on many factors. Whether the source is dialup, whether the better connection is allowing much upld bandwidth (yes even T1 & T3 can get miserly in offering upld bandwidth.) It can depend on how many files I'm dwnlding at once. Keep in mind that your connection 'potentially' has a maximum dwnld speed of about 33 KB/s but there's going to be some wasted in overhead. I generally average b/w 22-27 KB/s total shared b/w dwnlds. Make sure you're not using LW & do these bandwidth speed tests: http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest http://www.broadbandreports.com/tools http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp |
