How do I rename files in 4.2.3 It used 2 B a case of simply clicking on the file name in the library column...Not anymore! Does anyone know what you can do instead?? Ive tried changing the file details with the DESCRIBE option, but it still displays the file name that was originally downloaded. I hope ive explained this OK... |

I have had mixed results renaming files. Sometimes, I can rename them is a graphics program. Back in LimeWire they show up in red, I hit Refresh and everything is okay. The Windows Explorer sometimes changes the name and then it is not available to be played in LimeWire. Today I just highlighted the file name, hit rename and it renamed the file which played. Unfortunately it left a "ghost file" (zero size) with the old name that would not delete, ie "may be used elsewhere". A mite "glitchey", I'd say. Best Wishes!! |

I should think that after a reboot, that "ghost" file will no longer exist. It's a program or whatever that still has it listed under its old name. Even closing all your programs would probably do the trick. And yes, unless you Refresh LW's database, then there will be a file in red. It's in red (& won't launch) because it's been renamed but LW's database doesn't know that ... until the Refresh. And until that time, the file won't launch because it can't be found under its old name.

The "ghost files" seem to remove themselves because if I am doing a search and a download when I get back to the library the "ghost file" is gone. Recently I just did a rename in the library and the file disappeared, it showed up later. Refresh did nothing. I kinda wondering if what version a file was created under makes these differences?? Just when I think I have it "all fingered out" (sic) the next one does something different. I sure do LOVE LimeWire though!!!!! |
