I've seen several programs that promise to write a DVD movie onto a regular cd using my cd burner.....no DVD burner required. It also says that it is guaranteed to play on any dvd player. Has anyone tried these with any luck? And if so, can you reccomend one? Thanks!

So, I should look for a program that will convert DVD to SVCD? Do you know of any? I am downloading movies for my children to watch on their portable 7 inch DVD players. So, a lesser quality isn't such a big deal. It's not like we're watching it on our 50 inch big screen!

I've been able to sucessfully download movies onto my hard drive...just burning it has become a problem. I even worked out the issues with the codecs and can watch them on my pc. I did check out the link you posted first....spent days there actually and wound up more confused than when I started!
