Default Limewire Adware/Spyware

My adware/spyware software always finds over 130 entries all related to LIMEWIRE and says to remove them and reboot immediately.

Is there a way to run the P2P software without the adware and spyware? When I delete these files, Limewire doesn't work anymore. All information on the web seems to confirm that Limewire is choked with this crap.

Anyone have a solution?

Dr.

See this: http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._history.shtml
LW 4.2 has no adaware! I don't know what crappy adaware app you're using but I'm aware that at least one on the market hasn't been updated for some time & finds adaware/spyware where there isn't any just to make you think it's doing a good job. But all it does is create an illusion & do damage to your apps.

Default Limewire with Adware and spyware?

Like LOTR, I do not recognise the software Ntherapy is running as Limewire, simply because I have run Limewire since June 2004, back when the version on offer was 4.0.5, and I have never had any problems or conflicts when running Ad-Aware or Spybot and never had Limewire collect adware or spyware.

Therefore, when Ntherapy says:

I, Like LOTR, can only conclude that Ntherapy is running something else that he thinks is Limewire.

I now run Limewire 4.2.5, Ad-Aware SE, Spybot and a whole host of other protection software on Win XP SP1 and I have never ever had any conflicts with or between any of them.

Default adware

Sorry folks, my reason for believing that Limewire has adware/spyware is my PestPatrol software finds over 130 entries all in the Limewire programs everytime I run it. I update it regularly.

Strangely, Ad-aware 6.0 doesn't, so I researched on the web. Cnet and PC World group Limewire, Kazaa, and other P2P software in their review/explanations and say that these programs are usually filled with adware and spyware.

So, the two together made me believe this is the case. I have since downloaded several other pest software programs, and they don't "find" limewire as a pest.

So, I guess this means it isn't???

I've been running LW, adaware, spybot ect...for over 4 years now and have only had one instance of spyware in LW.
Now Kazaa and Morph are a different story, they Flood your machine with all kinds of crap just on installation! Let alone while your connected. Don't use them!
*Be careful what types of files you download.
*Check the sizes carefully.
*Know approx what size the file your downloading should be.
*After every batch of downloads, run a virus/spyware scan on ALL those files BEFORE running them!!!!!!!!!!

Pest Patrol is broken. I recommend to not use it and to spread the word to not use it.

I tried Pest Patrol from a free sample CD that came on a PC Magazine, probably over a year ago.
I didn't like PP, it seemed to give a lot of what I consider false alarms, maybe it could have been a bit of difference of perception as to what justifys calling something a virus/spyware, maybe PP designers were overly cautious compared to my views ?

I was annoyed that when I tried to uninstall PP it didn't go cleanly. Don't know if this was due to something I failed to do right or a deliberate strategy of PP. Anyway, in the end I had to go through the Registry with regedit and manually remove all references to PP, myself.
