No that doesn't make sense.

As soon as you burn them, try them on your dvd player with your tv. And use your comp's dvd player to open directly from the disk. Don't open your player & choose previously played or else you won't be able to open it if you've deleted it.

Well this might be silly But I have an almost new DELL that has a dvd rom drive and a dvd+rw dl. I have found through trial and error the media used to record on makes a big difference. I use nero ultra and generally have no problems. I have used roxio also and it does a good job. I found out after buying this machine that it was hard finding the best media to burn onto. I just found some new blank DVD media to record on, and I am now burning DVDs at 12X. Takes about 10 minutes to burn a dvd.

Unhappy burning dvd's

I did try them first to make sure they were burnt...everything was copied in about 1 minute....very fast...

Went in and previewed it...then did 3 more after that and previewed them...they were all there...

then disappeared....

I'm going to check them again....plus reburn them if I have to...

In reference to the previously played on the player....I never saw that anywhere...I just put the disc in and hit play..then it said it couldnt read the disc or disc was empty...

Now that it could be burned the right way...I'll have to double check on the tv if anything is there...will check tonight...

thanks...LOTR

Thumbs up

Just like the original cd burners were like (& still are in some cases), each brand/model has prefered media for burning. Some do better with some brands. The best I've come across with wide-spread compatibility is Verbatim (it also plays on all set-top players.) Visit a dvd forum & you'll find out which brands are best suited to which brands of burners & also offer the best reliability to be played on most set-top players. (I wouldn't necessarily recommend burning at max speed though! That in itself can cause issues!)

Thanks fabion that's a very important point that's been forgotten here!

That is true I wouldn't recommend burning at the max speed either. I ordered this machine specificaly for this type of work.
The new media I found was TEON it is using version 1.2 don't know what the difference is but it flys on this machine. My specialty is hardware not software. glad I could be of some help.

Unhappy burning dvd's...movies

This is where I am at...

I spent the weekend reading all the manuals for the 2 dvd/recorders and the pc....wrote down all the compatible discs to use etc...

Okay I started over...
when I said before I burned 4 dvd'd w/movies...they didnt play on the tv...
here I found out that I burned them using windows Media player

Instead of sonic record now....so what i did was start over w/record now like i did way back when...

Here what i found out happened is that all the files i moved from the LW library to my documents....only could be picked up and burned by windows media player...

I tried everytrhing...trial and error...clicked on all the find,,,view,,,help,,,options...etc...nothing helped...

In short....If I can somehow get the files from the LW library to the sonic record now documents...or shared files...I can record from here....this has been the WHOLE problem...

Can anyone help?

Also I tried to burn again on the dvd+rw disc that had the windows media player burnt movies on them and it said "file corrupt...can't use...

so I threw them out...

RW's are rewriteable. Meaning that if you erase them with your compatible burner softw, you can use them again. I've never heard of wmp burning dvd's but then, I'm a mac person ... lol

Why don't you go to your LW downld folder: Library window, select Saved Files, & press the Explore button. This will open the folder up for you. Then drag & drop (or copy) the movie files to where you want them for burning & where sonic record now can easily find them.

Why not go to their website & check out FAQ & online tutorials: http://support.sonic.com/desktop/def...w&type=desktop

Thumbs up burning dvd's...movies

I will try that...

BTW...I know that the rw's can be burned over....

I always use a cd-rw or dvd+rw to burn onto them...then recopy onto a good disc...then if all editing ok...burn over it again....

it's great for music...I only used 1 cd-rw for about 25 discs i made...

that's why i mentioned that it came up on Sonic record now that it couldn't be cleaned or burned over....
it was weird...I tried to erase it all and it said no dice....

I threw 2 discs away...have 2 left ...i'll try to burn over them also...and see if I get the same results

TY...LOTR

Are you sure Sonic burn now can handle RW disks? Perhaps it doesn't have the ability to erase disks! You may need to have a specific dvd burner app for that. Sonic ... is a bundle of tricks, but perhaps its skills in burning & erasing are not as good as a regular disk burner app.

On my comp I have several apps that can erase disks. So if I had a problem with one app, I'd swap over to another.

DVD's are great for mp3's! They can fit just 'SO Much' music! And plus if the files are organised properly is a charm to use on a dvd player.

Smile burning dvd's...movies

I read the manual when making my notes on all 3 of the culprets here...

yes I can erase on the pc using rw's...

I know i've burned over dvd+rw's before experimenting on Ka***

this really screwed me up...
the other thing ...on my old pc i had NERO...after I learned how to burn on there ...it was simple and fast....

now I have to start over...

I also went in (based on other recommendations on other threads) and went thru all of my settings...

I am on cable...everthing is set properly....
last night i cleared out some of my LW files....reset LW and I was working on excellent DL and they were DL as fast as they possibly could....

AMAZING!!!

Now all I have to do is solve the old burning movies problem...
it hasn't beaten me yet!!!
