Thumbs up burning dvd movies

Persistance Eventually Pays Off!!

Here we go!!!!!!!!

LOTR..I FINALLY got the movies burned on the dvd+rw's.....TY

But...........they look and sound great on the pc...

They still don't play on the TV/dvd player setup.....same message on the tv disc error cant read format....

My pc is recording on sonic Record Now and playing the dvd's back on Intervideo Win DVD 4...

I went thru every tutorial on the sonic help page...nothing...

my dvd player WILL play drd+rw's.....plus I reburned over them ...

no problemo there...

so we are almost home free....

is it possible to convert somehow to get this to play on the tv setup?

what if I was to reburn the dvd+rw onto a dvd+r or dvd-r? the dvd/player accepts both to play

would that work?

I need some thoughts here men...women...

we are getting close......

yeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Make sure when you burn your dvd you choose UDF format. Otherwise they will not play on tv. Sure they'll play on the computer. UDF is a must for set-top dvd players. UDF format is a choice of format to format the disk to just as audio format or vcd format or ISO 9660 format, etc.

Unhappy UDF Format

Ok LOTR I looked everywhere.....I cannot find where this UDF format is located...

Are you saying i need to convert this somehow to get it on the TV?

So I would have the same problem if I burned this to a dvd+r or dvd-r?

We are close pal....

see what you can do for me on this...

TY

Do you have any friends or relatives with new or newish dvd players. Try your disks out on theirs. It may be your particular player either isn't overkeen on the brand of media or isn't so keen on dvd-r/rw media or doesn't like the way your softw is burning/formatting it.

Yes all these things can play a part. Some players are touchy. Before I bought my player I tested a no. of my disks (different brands & dvd-/+/r/rw) out on them using 3 different dvd formatting & burner apps. I wanted to be sure I could get a player that could take what was thrown at it. In fact I took my original one back b/c I found it couldn't play ones burnt with a particular softw (so I obviously didn't test it out initially enough.) I do a lot of business with them plus I hold a trade card so I get things at trade price. I was a touch lucky I guess.

Try a different brand of media. What model of player do you have? What brand of media are you using?

Have you considered posting on either the http://www.videohelp.com/ forum or the http://forum.dvd-guides.com/ forum. No doubt there's also probably a forum for Sonic Now...

I use a mac & I don't know about the windows versions of dvd authoring & editing apps. So to try to work out your problem is a little difficult. I can only make comparisons to the types of issues you may come across.

Unhappy burning dvd's...movies

Well today i'm going to buy both dvd-r and dvd+r discs...

They are supposedly compatible with both of my brand new dvd recorder/players....

I'm going to try and burn a movie on each from the dvd+rw and see what happens..

OK LOTR I'm back after working on this for the weekend...

Step 1...I checked both brand new DVDplayer recorders and there is no switch to convert....never heard of pal here...but I will check the remote menu...good idea...

Step 2... I reburned AND closed the dvd's ....onto dvd+r as per the dvd/player (can play these)...instructions...

All movies played very well on the pc as usual....
got the DISC ERROR on the tv again!!!!!

Sooooooooooo...back to square 1.....
I'm hoping between ALL these people having the same problem that if someone finds an answer to KINDLY let eveyone else know....

Does he use the same burner & softw? I had a CD burner that didn't like being used below a particular speed. It took me many months to discover that & even the techs didn't discover that. So I got rid of it anyway. But that was a cd burner. Oh & it also didn't like some brands of disks. yuk!

I will check and see if I can find out speed and disc make...the disc didnt have any writing other than the stamp of appproval on it...

I already reduced my taping speed from LW to get the movies to fit on the dvd..plus the clarity is better...actual it's pretty darn good on the pc...

I can't beleive no one is offering solutions to having this problem and solving it...

it must be a very easy solution...
