Question Where do I find the Terms of Service for LimeWire?

I can't find the Terms of Service for LimeWire anywhere. My problem is, I am not satisfied with the service and the advertisement indicates a 100% satisfaction guarantee. They are supposedly "committed to complete 100% satisfaction" so I'd like to find out what they can do to live up to this guarantee. The reason I am not satisfied is that there is very little rare music available from the 70's and 80's that I don't already have. I understand that they do not make refunds, so what else can they do for me?

Exactly where did you get your LW? Did you buy pro from the 'Official' LW website or were you scammed. Pro costs $18.88 & if you visit the official site I haven't seen anything there that says 100% satisfaction! Go here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml & have a look around. Their support section is quite large & they explain about many things about sharing, etc.

Also see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=28751 if you paid more than $18.88

Knowing how to use LW helps. I get a hold of rare music files very often from 60's, 70's, etc.

Default 100% satisfaction guarantee

Thanks for the info. I found Lime Wire through a series of links back on 12/10 but I don't know exactly how I got there. I do know I paid $34.90 for 2 years including DVD downloads. I am looking at a printout I made from a Lime Wire ad that reads $0.97 a month for a 2 year membership. DVD downloads are an extra $4.95. There is a gold-seal type of symbol which reads "100% Satisfaction Guarantee". I don't believe it to be a scam, since I do have access to Lime Wire. The link you sent me too doesn't tell me anything about the Terms of Service. So I still don't know any more than before except that I paid more than I should have, for some reason.

I found it - through my PayPal account. The site address wasn't found, but the e-mail address is info@my-free-music.com. I sent an e-mail asking how I can get a friend to sign up through them, but I have a feeling I'm not going to get a reply.
Anyway, I'm a member of LimeWire and have been able to find some stuff I was looking for. I'll just chalk it up to experience.
Thanks again.

Well considering you paid that amount of money for the free version of LW. And the official name of LW is Limewire not Lime Wire. You either received the free version of LW or a variation version by somebody else. Either way. You've paid for downlding from other people just like you & me when you could have done it for free by going to the official LW website first. So how many 4.7 GB dvd's have you seen available? None right!

Do you have a copy of their manual?

That site is http://www.my-free-music.com/ & You'll find reference to it HERE (click on link) by jrwaits47. Those people are con artists who are making money out of the true Limewire. They have nothing what-so-ever to do with LW other than saying you can get all these downlds if you buy membership & then direct you to the free LW version.

Always beware of buying online. Check the company out 1st. Some of these scam sites move around.

Default How many more are going to be ripped off?

It seems like every week some poor uninitiated internet user shells out money for nothing, thinking they have joined a club for life, got unlimited downloads or bought into some other unbelievable offer.

One of the things, I believe, why new internet users keep getting caught out is that all these "rip-off" stories are scattered throughout different Gnutella Forums, making them difficult to find.

If all these stories were gathered together, put into one forum under one title and made accessible (searchable) via Google (and other search engines) then they could be used as an "anti-rip-off" resource.

So when new internet users go searching for the unobtainable, and end up finding adverts designed to part them from their money, they will also find these tales of woe. That way they may be tempted to read about other users experiences before buying a load of "nothing" from the con artists.

It's one thing to stick these stories into a forum, but best would probably require the payment of money somewhere down the line to combat it; ie: that these pages are linked to google/& whatnot search engines so if people search for these things they get both in their search results. Well ... that comes from a barely experienced web designer. lol At this point I don't know all the ins & outs & linking to search engines other than paying for the xtra results. Sure you can link a web page with certain keywords but it just doesn't compare to paying for deliberate connection with a major search engine. Any ideas?

Phantom (scam) sites can scam & run. That's another part of the issue.

Default Anti-Rip-Off Resource

Dear LOTR

You are right, linking a web page to Google, or whatever, will cost money.

It may be too much for Gnutella to take on the scammers, they must generate a lot of advertising revenue for the search engines, if they pay (which I doubt).

However, if possible, I still think there should be some sort of anti-rip off forum/resource, if not now then sometime in the future.
