program freezes

why the heck does lw always freeze up on me. When I first connect it will freeze up and I have to restart my machine two or three times before it stops freezing. This is the only program that does that on my computer. Should I remove and reinstall??Anybody with the same problem?

What operating system version do you run? How much ram? How much spare HDD space?

* Update your Java version 1.5 (take the JRE)

* Defragment your HDD

* After you open LW, leave it to settle for some time before doing anything! Depending on how many incomplete & shared files you have this can take some time as it's also trying to connect to each individual file in turn as well. Give 10, 15, 30 mins to settle before doing anything with it.

* Don't resume many (if any) files b/c this can potentially use up all of LW's resources & also slow down your comp. Manual searches of the topic file is the most effective & safest way to find sources.

I am using windows xp, 1.24 gigs of ram, 60 gigs of free space on my hd. Thanks for the suggestions I will try them.
