Talking Not the Program, Just the Operator

Seems like I've been here before. Operators having problems with the program need to stop blaming the programmers and look closer to home for problems. Look at the reflection in the monitor. Therein lies the problem. From the early days of Napster, from whence I come to being a Charter Member at Grokster to Kazaa, bearshare, Aimster, kazaalite. Diet Kazaa & more I have had Forum or chat with users having problems. Lots of posing & chatting with the same problems. ANSWER: Scandisk your drive, regedit any old obsolete program/registry entries, Defrag your HDD, remove any other file sharing program you may have or you'll be sharing resourses with LimeWire, insure all your drivers are updated, have a good Avi/DiVx player, shutdown all unnecessary programs THEN install LimeWire Pro making sure you have uninstalled LimeWire Basic.

IF YOU THINK WINDOWS IS BAD YOU SHOULD HAVE TRIED MS-DOS

Hey Mr. know it all. I've already tried your smart *** remarks (with the exception of using LimeWire Pro). The problem still appears. And seeing that it's happening to more than just one person, I would guess that there is a flaw somewhere in the code. So why don't you just sit back and be quiet.

I believe they were very wise 'suggestions' by somebody who has obviously been around the various p2p forums. Pity more people didn't look after their computers & give them periodic check ups. I mean it's like running a car & never giving it a service (or worse.)

Perhaps this advice will not solve this particular issue. But since every windows machine is 'so' different & windows can be 'so' affected by the smallest of differences ... it's not always easy to pinpoint a problem.

I could be a smartazz & suggest everybody get a mac but I don't think anybody would be impressed with such a light-hearted jokeful suggestion, particularly in this climate where people are getting frustrated with this issue.

1. Have you tried the beta?: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml

Why not set up a new user account where the preferences are totally separate from yours at present & choose a new location for everything in this new user account.

2. Have you checked to make sure you have all the updates to your graphic hardware drivers & other hardware?

Right fellas

I've reformatted my hard disk, reinstalled everything as it originally was, still having problems with LW Pro, so I've gone back to using the Basic version.

I bought the software in good faith, LW sold it in good faith; I'm not really fussed about it at the end of the day.

And I'm still getting "Turbocharged" downloads using Basic so all in all its a win-win situation, thanks fellas for the suggestions.

At the end of the day..............

it gets dark!

I would just leave it installed "as is", its getting to the stage now where you simply must have SP1 to download stuff from Microsoft; give it 8 months and it'll be the same for SP2.

I have this problem too. I thought it had gotten fixed, but apparently not. I have gaven up on it pretty much, it ****** me off tremendously when it closes on me. I am pretty sure that this happens only to a select few, because I don't see alotta comments about this in these forums. Maybe we're just cursed! I'm was starting to think that it could be Java though, or maybe plug-ins that are installed on my computer. Does anybody think that these could have something to do with it

What type of plug-ins are they? Browser plugins, audio/video plugins, etc.?

I also think my Java can have something to do with it. I have version 1.4.2_05. Do you know how to troubleshoot Java to see if its damaged?
