I keep getting kicked out of LimeWire I'm currently running LimeWire 4.2.6 Pro on a 576kbps dsl connection, now my problem is with this Pro version (the free version worked fine); I will have LimeWire up and running everything is fine, then suddenly it will just close the window. As I download a lot of large MPG (200MB+) files this can get highly annoying as one minute I'll be downloading at 60kbps then suddenly it shuts down, upon restarting LimeWire I frequently find myself at the back of a queue or downloading at 1 or 2 kbps. Now I never had this problem with the free version and all the config settings are exactly the same, has anybody else come across this problem or am I just special? P.S. When LimeWire shuts down the intenet connection stays open and I do not have any problems with other software, and whilst downloading I turn off my Firewall. P.P.S. PC Is 2.4Ghz Celeron (d) 512Mb RAM, 256Mb Radeon 9200, |

Try Fixes for Limewire & see if it helps. By the way, let LW settle down before you jump in & start searching, etc. Give it time to settle. This may take 10 or 20 or more mins depending on how many incomplete & shared files you have. Also don't use the resume function too many files. This will put stress on both LW & your comp. By the way, do you really need SP2? SP2 reduces simultaneous connections. It's intended for major networks & busineses. Last edited by Lord of the Rings; November 26th, 2005 at 04:09 PM. |

I do need service pack 2, there are USB drivers in it for my motherboard, which the manufacturer did not provide downloading these drivers from the website is a no go as the ASUS site is as much use as a chocolate fireguard! Tried the fixes for LimeWire, got the old "This page cannot be displayed" message. I do allow LimeWire to "settle-down" before I use it, there is just no real pattern to the problem; it can shutdown after 5 seconds or after an hour and a half! |

I'm at the end of my day, might I just suggest something very basic. Do a system overhaul. Completely check it over & clean it up. Defrag your HDD, etc. Don't run 2 p2p apps simultaneously. Close any LW windows you're not in need of. eg: just keep your search window open. Set downlds to auto-clear at completion. mTry not to use LW's media player (at least for now.) Don't run too many other apps ( at least for now.) |

I can't believe you asked him if he really needs SP2. Everybody should have SP2 installed. Your going against the grain if you don't. SP2 is also for home users. Microsoft preaches everybody to install it whether your a business or home user. Just to let you know, I also get this same problem in the free version of Limewire 4.2.6. It is quite annoying.
