Why does Limewire Keep Shutting Down?

Hi. This is my first post. I'm having a problem with Limewire. It just keeps shutting itself down for no reason at all, with no warning. I updated, ran anti-virus...and it's still doing it. It doesn't matter what i'm doing, whether listening to music, or downloading a file, it just disappears. It's kinda getting on my nerves..

I appreciate any help

There's a few people having this problem (including myself) and there is no known fix for it yet.

Were you ever able to use LimeWire without it shutting down?

Did you install any programs or updates after just before LimeWire started shutting down?

i have had limewire for a while now and have never had any known problems with it until now. i updated the Limewire in hopes that it would stop shutting down. and i also downloaded a game just before it started the problems...could this be the problem? maybe with memory? i have windows xp and only 128MB with 40 gigs.

I have 1 Gb of DDR400 memory and it still shuts down. Sometimes I can use it without it shutting down, other times it might shut down once and still other times it will shut down a few times. When it does shut down it won't even reside in the system tray.

Please go to the directory that LimeWire is installed in. Generally this is around C:\Program Files\LimeWire, or C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire <version>.

Look for files called "hs_err_pid<###>.log" in that directory.

Please post them here or email them to sberlin@limepeer.com .

Thanks.

Yes Jer30, that's exactly the problem i'm having..

sberlin: I ran a file search and it turned up about thirty different things that all say hs_err_pid<### but not hs_err_pid<###>.log . Am i looking at the wrong thing?

ADDED ABOUT 45 MINUTES LATER.

Limewire has been open on my computer all day, while i was at work. Nothing has gone wrong with it. Well, i've been listening to music on it for about an hour now, still nothing. I have been unconnected all day. Just a few minutes ago, i decided to connect and search for a song, and less than a minute after i connected, it shut down after it had been on playing music pretty much all day. I don't think this happens ALL the time, but i just thought i'd let you know. LW doesn't seem to shut down until AFTER i connect.

Anything that begins with hs_err_pid is what we need, as long as it's it in the LimeWire directory.
