Default FYI Norton Internet Security & Live Updates

My NIS (2004) just did a live update. It required a restart and further update. When the computer restarted I started receiving intrusion alerts. 1 about every 2 seconds for about 2 minutes. Quite annoying.

Restarting the computer didn't help. Tried 3 times no success.

I shut down again and turned off power to the modem for about 5 minutes. I restarted modem let the pretty little green lights come on and then retarted computer. Problem fixed. No more intrusion alerts.

That was my last resort before following the fixes for LW.

Thought I would share this information incase someonelse was having similar problems.

Those alerts were probably only attempted connections through LW. If your firewall is configured properly (to let all traffic through port 6346) you shoulden't have any problems. The same thing would happen to me with ZoneAlarm PRO before I allowed Limewire.exe and port 6346. Thanks for shareing and remember to look to the LimeWire site for more information on firewall settings. Good luck.

Greetings deepblue,

LW was configured for full access, and was running full out, when NIS did an automatic liveupdate. After the update it stated the system needed to be restarted for the updates to take effect. So I closed all the running applications and clicked okay. Don't know exactly what NIS did, but it sure was annoying until I turned off the modem and then restarted. I didn't change any settings at all, and LW is running full out again. I normally get 120+ KB/s d/l and I saw 1 u/p last night hit a little over 70 KB/s.

I'm assuming it was a glitch between the modem and NIS for some reason, since I never changed any settings.

Something in that update must have changed something between your computer and the modem. But it looks like power cycleing and a restart helps to solve the problem.
