Free 16 song sampler not syncing to iPod

When you first start up iTunes they entice you to get an account by offering 16 songs free. I was able to download the 16 song sampler to my library for free, but they will not sync to my iPod.

It posted a warning when I connected my iPod to my computer and tried to sync, saying, "Some songs like Title and Registration by Death Cab for Cutie cannot be downloaded to iPod because you are not authorized to play them from this computer"

What kind of bullshit is that? I was signed in to my account.

I may be speaking out of ignorance b/c I've never downlded those types of songs but, did you go to the iTunes menu>Advanced & choose Deauthorise computer?
