Hi lizziebrad, sorry to hear it hasn't been sorted yet.

It sounds as though you may need to configure things to improve LW's performance.

Have you configured your firewalls to allow LW full access (& not just partial): http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. HDD space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?

After opening LW give it some time to settle before doing anything. It needs to load its incomplete & shared files which may take a while. It will be spending most of its energies doing this initially. These hints apply to both versions.

Here's some other hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.

OK did you configure your firewalls (McAffee) as suggested. The link above tells how. Even if XP firewall is off, it might be an idea to set it to allow LW anyway, you never know.

Can you tell us more about your wireless. What brand & if possible what model number. These often have internal firewalls & require a port to be opened in some cases for LW.

After LW has been open at least 30 mins can you do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Does it say True/False? If it's false then there's a firewall somewhere that's partially blocking LW.

Morning LOTR
I did the bug test and it gave a lot of codes but it did say true. LW is on the time, i do switch the comp off every so often (once a week) but LW auto starts from where I left off. I will inform you of the wireless details later.

Something I do when that happens (downlds dying) is this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34114 ie: I stop it, then re-select from the search results. I'll do that a few times backed up with a new search to see if I can find new/fresh sources.

I can't find any reference to that particular Safecom wireless so I suspect the no. is a serial number & not a model number. I did find another model at portforward.com But since your incoming test is True then there's no need to expand on that.

By the way LW Pro is not dramatically better than LW Basic. Many people don't even notice the difference. It will have a stronger connection quality though. That's b/c it connects to 5 ultrapeers whereas LW Basic connects to 3. Go to your Connections window in LW to see this.

Many thanks for your help. although I'm not sure that I want to use it now. It has been 6 days now since first contact with LW and 5 e-mails with no response whatever. This will not go down very well in a magazine review. Again many thanks for your help you have been doing what LW should have been doing. Ask them if you could run it for them.

Hi Lizziebrad,

Your purchase, as you saw when you attempted it, did not go through. It was automatically voided. This also means that your information was not entered in our database, including your email address.

Our tech support team receives a large amount of email each day. Some of it is spam, some of it is from people who have been scammed... Due to both the volume of email received and the number of emails that are not from PRO customers, emails that do not come from an email address in our database are not given first priority.

This is almost certainly what occurred with the three emails that you sent. I can certainly understand your frustration at not receiving a reply to your email, and I hope you understand our position of giving PRO customers priority. They are, after all, the only way that we generate revenue to pay our development team who, in addition to creating the best p2p program EVER, do spend a lot of time assisting BASIC users in the forum.

I hope this clears everything up.

You can say that but why was my account debited with the amount of $18.88. Load af rubbish if you ask me. I have written it off as the learning process, even if sites like this propose that they are ligit, you can still be ripped off with them claiming that you did not sign up on a ligit site or some other exscuse. It has taken a week for somebody to attempt to try and explain it. At the end of the day I am $18.88 adrift from my account, and from all accounts even if things had gone right, I would not have gained much for the money that they asked. Stay with the free one, you would be far happier keeping your money in your account. This is my last comment about this site. I am now going to delete it and put it down to experience. I have downloaded 5 movies suppossingly to be Magic Roundabout only to find that they are Team America or something totally different from thier title.
On summery you get a load of crap!!!!
