![]() Hello, I'm new to Limewire(reletively new to P2P) recently downloaded LW4.2.6 on WinXP Pro. I am connecting succesfully and downloading files with no problem. However, I can't access the Help files on my tool bar. The "About" option is fine but "UsingLW","FAQ", and "Forum" all bring a pop-up telling me "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. Can anyone tell me what this means? I enjoy tinkering with things so eventually I'll have it hacked(not cracked, but learned) but I have a suspicion I'm not properly sharing. At least I can't tell if I am as I can't yet fluently read the "Connections" page. Thank you, Carpetguy |

![]() That's a very odd message to get. The menu options you described should all bring up a website that goes to a certain page on limewire.com. Did you download LimeWire from limewire.com? If not, you may not have gotten the correct version. If so, something's amiss. Have you you perchance removed a file called "donotremove.htm" in the "C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire 4.2.6" directory? If you have (or if it just isn't there), try creating a file by that name (it doesn't need to have anything written in it). LimeWire uses that file as a marker to figure out what application is associated with browser pages (and thus open up the right browser). |

Now, my monitor window has to windows.incoming searches with a box to check to show searches(I'm assuming these are requests coming from other users?) and uploads . Ironically, at the time of this writing I doublechecked the windows and saw an entry for uploads. It's a file I do have but was interupted by what I don't know. If those file are actually on the Limewire website I'll dig around for it. Thank you for the input and if anyone else has any ideas I'd love to hear it. be well, carpetguy |

And than here the solution ![]() ============ I know the answer.. because i had the same problem.... the problem is that your browser isnot your standard program to open *.htm files. so you have to set *.htm files to open with firefox or internet explorer or some program and not with notepad ![]() if you do so its solved ![]() |
