the "search" option I am new to the Lime Wire thing, don't know very much about it but am learning. I have been downloading music just fine until today-all my search efforts yeild a blank page. What is going on? I'm not asking for anything obscure, but I'm getting nothing. Any help out there? |
I have found that it is possible to be too precise in a search request. More often than not, it leads to many more so-called 'hits' than I expected, because some common word is considered a 'match' even though it does not contain the other words in a phrase. But to receive zero results would seem to indicate that your search criteria contains words rarely used in song titles ... and noone is on-line who has the title you are looking for. I am doing a 'search' on this Forum database for methods to restrict erroneous 'matches' ... such as the proper syntax for enclosing a phrase in quotes (single ', or double "). But using just 'search' for an argument is returning more threads that are not helpful, than useful ones. :( |
More to GooRoo about "search" Thanks GooRoo To be more clear, I am not making any overly precise searches. For example, I typed "Beatles" just to see if I would get the blank page. I got the blank page. I had been using LW just fine up until 2 days ago when the nothing started happening. I use Windows 2000, the free version of LimeWire. I don't know what's up. |
wendyx there's different methods to search. When searching for songs, also try an Any Type search. Also try the song or artist or even slightly mispell the name as some people mis-label their files. So also try varying your search criteria to help with your searches. You seem to have a major issue though if you're not getting any search results. If you're a windows user, delete your LW preferences folder whilst LW is closed as directed here: Fixes for Limewire That will probably fix your problem. If not post back & give us some details about who your isp provider is & what equipment you're using. |
No search results I too am getting no search results. Even when I put in something I have found results for a million times before. Using cable connection and says it is connected fine. Using pro 4.8.1 and Windows XP |
Greetings legaleagle Would you please tell who your cable company is. |
no search results My cable company is insight. I have previously had no problem with LW working with this cable company. I did notice when I went to monitor I got a message saying client is a leaf node shielded by an ultrapeer. Does that mean something? |
Umm yes! Insight seem to apply LW blocking after they detect you are using LW so it doesn't happen immediately. See ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire You can also check out the links within that 1st post which might give you an alternative answer to solving the problem. eg: using a proxy or another isp. |
