Default End of P2P mp3 swapping?

Are there any consumer groups or artists that will fight this?

Record labels monitor file swapping on networks by recording the IP addresses of users sharing copyrighted content. After obtaining this information, they will either approach the ISP or go to court to obtain the identity of the user.
And that's why the smart people would block such invaders with a program like Peerguardian: http://peerguardian.methlabs.org/pg2.html (FREE)

Another just picking on a few & making a big public media event out of it to scare everybody! See BOTH Organisations trying to connect via Port 6346 & also Piracy

Thanks for the tip.

I know that with this kind of news being thrown at us I 'm not alone in being nervous about making all of my music files available.

some people have stopped sharing altogether which again devalues the network and robs other users of sources for downloads and the ability to experiment with music that they haven't come into contact with.

Are there any other steps that I can take to protect myself from being prosecuted for file sharing?

900 files of Britney/Jessica/Outcast/Madonna shared especially on Kazaa means you are next to be sued....

I'd share 900 files of some artists just so people could hear how bad they are without spending $16.00!

Did you hear that Britney!
