The GNUTELLA network is decentralized--no sites are needed for links. The search engine for files is built right into LimeWire and the other GNUTELLA servents, and so no centralized server is needed. Still, you can create special links, called 'Magnets," that can be posted on a web site. Just right-click a file in your Library to get at them. You can find a few samples at www.magnetmix.com. .torrent files (the torrent, not the actual file it tracks) use a different protocol for swarming files from multiple computers. There have been some trials of adding torrent support to LimeWire, but for now, open any .torrent files you find with your torrent software. |
