Can sharing too many files slow PC?

I want to share as many of my 17,000 music files as possible. When I try to share them all, my PC slows down to a "crawl". I cannot even work on other programs with LW running. When I reduce the number of files to under, say 2,000, the speed goes back to normal. Is this slow down normal? I running with a 1GHz Pentium III using Windows XP with 512 RAM.

Both large (many) incomplete & shared files can have a drag effect upon lW. See Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! as a starting point. If that doesn't solve the problem then reduce shared uplds. If you don't mind being patient for LW to take longer to load & stabilise then share a lot. Incompletes play more of a part here but also shared can & does play a part.

I have done the "purging"; so, I'll to gradually increase the shared files and hopefully things will stablize.
