Uninstalling when LW does not show up in control panel? I have LW version 4.2.6. Ever since I installed it, my computer has become a pop-up machine and has been rendered basically useless. I would like to uninstall this software. I go to control panel- add/remove...but Lime Wire does not show up in the compiled list. In this case, how would I remove or uninstall it? Thank you Wendy wendywx@cvinternet.net |
start>all programs>limewire>uninstall That should work. search the forum for one of ursula,s posts. There are a bunch of links in the signature. I would suggest d/l spybot, and ad-aware by lavasoft, and run them along with your anti-virus software. If you don't already have them. Try d/l the updated version of LimeWire from here, the basic version is free. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml It has no adware bundled with it, as far as I'm aware. There were problems with the version you had. |
uh, that was what I tried FIRST I am familiar with most of the ways to uninstall programs. I first tried the all programs-lime wire-uninstall. I should have stated in my last post that I was not a novice computer user. Sorry :-( Lime Wire does not show up in my all programs menu. Basically, the only place the program shows up is on my desktop. There is no option to uninstall when you run the program either. It would appear to me that there is no way to uninstall this program, which really upsets me. Hopefully someone out there knows an alternate way to uninstall something, besides the programs missing uninstall file or the control panel add/remove programs window. Thank you. Wendy |
I have them I have both spybot and adaware. I now have to run them 2-3 times a day. Ever since I installed Lime Wire--which I can now appearantly NOT GET RID OF!! Thanks |
hmmm try ctr-alt-del this will bring up task manger. Make sure no instances of limewire are running. If there are any kill the process. Use windows explorer and search for anything limewire. Delete anything you find. If you have a registry checking program I would run it after this. If that fails to work try starting in safe mode, and use windows explorer to search for anything limewire, and delete if you find anything. Make sure search location is set to search your hard drive. You do have admin. privilges for the account your doing this from don't you? BTW where did you get LimeWire from? |
uninstalling I have admin privileges, it is my home computer. I downloaded it from a tv show site. Can't remember now. Thanks, I will try it the old fashioned way. Wendy |
