![]() i have been trying to optimize my limewire pro for several days now without much success. i read the stickys and viewed scores of threads all asking the same thing, and I understand how to do it, but not why its not working. heres specifics. i have comcast high speed internet plus two, supposedly 6mbps down and 2 up. when i test at pc pitstop its averaging about 1500 kilobits down and 500-700 up. i know that this is good because even without top speed i still get awsome connections, on my statistics it says something like 52Kbps down average, ive seen it as fast as 170. But i don't think its 85% of what im supposed to be getting, am i getting throttled? Ive adjusted max dnlds with no consistently obvious results(same with up). I don't act as an ultrapeer or allow oob search results, is this a problem? I am currently sharing about 2000 mp3s and tons of porn, seems thats all anyone downloads from me(lol), and i leave it on constantly. Could my service provider be aware of that and be throttling me? it would be obvious that im sharing. This is what I think it is though, your gonna love this, I actually downloaded limewire pro using the free version. is it possible that I am just using the pro version without actually having pro content and capabilities? it installed fine and everything. originally my connection always said excellent, after i got pro it immediately went to turbo charged and I believe it did get faster, but i still rarely connect with more than 9 hosts per file, even if i have it set to more than 10 and I cant get the top speed. Anyways, i hope i was specific enough to warrant an answer. i think ive seen murasame answer this same question about 20 times. thanks |

![]() Well I'm thinking you have everything optimized then. There may be a number of variables which may effect your d/l speed. Some of which are how fast is the u/l host. For example if they are only u/l at 6 KB/s you won't get a very fast d/l speed even with 9 hosts. 9 x 6 = 54. It may also depend on how much network congestion there is and distance between hosts. BTW: My LW is fully optimized and I rarely see more than 9 hosts on a d/l. I have even had 9 hosts on a d/l and couldn't get above 20 KB/s d/l speed. That isn't LW's fault or my connections fault. It was the u/l host just couldn't match my d/l speed potential, because they didn't have an equivalent connection speed. As a side note I have reached d/l speeds of 170 KB/s on multiple d/l going at the same. It was the u/l host were capable of matching my d/l speed potential. You must remember super fast connections are in the minority. I was a dialup user not so long ago, and the vast number of users cannot afford such a connection. |
