Thumbs down Really Shocking Adult material

I was searching for adult material and I was shocked to see that there are people out there with rape scenes and child porn.

Can Limewire administrators allow that kind of thing?
Surely these users should be blocked.

I didnt download any of those search results but just seeing them made me feel really seedy.

Any thoughts?

Default a somewhat informed opinion

It may be informed, but is only my opinion, with a bit of knowledge...there is no way to prevent such material from being downloaded, as this is peer to peer...I have found however, that the actual content, even if it describes "rape." or "incest," is in fact no such thing. Although still inappropriate to say the least, most of what you would see, is simply made to appear (and poorly) that it is what they describe. Now, it is a totally different matter if you were to download any of the "faces of death," I believe is is called, as they do have some really gross stuff, and most appears to be real, if not, in some of their clips, to be somewhat staged, if you pick it apart...My point I guess, is that even if it says rape, it is only for those who get off on that sort of thing, and unfortunatly there are many...but it is, for the most part, just acting...I am offended by it also. My "knowledge," comes from others such as people I know, who have had it downloaded...I've been permenantly corupted, in the mannor that if I see the word house, I automatically see "horse," as there are many animal vids that I was asked to view, and before I knew what was happening, got the shock of my life....oh, well...live and learn. Just Kea

I think the main problem is how people can get tricked into downloading something really wrong. I have unintentionally started to download a number of files that have turned out to be CP. It's bad that you can't be sure of what you are downloading!! - but what can you do, it has really worried me as I didn't want to see that let alone have it on my computer!

Default Fake Files

Dear p2pman

One of the unfortunate things about using P2P is the number of fake and mislabelled files that are about, and if you look long enough you will find mp3 files disguised as video files.

Plus, you have to watch out for viruses and spyware.

However, if you can navigate around and through the dangers you will find that using P2P can be most enjoyable.

Cheers UkBob

I know you can navigate it if you are cautious, I unfortunately fell into the trap of getting lured into downloading unintended material. Do you think it is something to worry about? - i.e. am I gonna get busted for downloading these files even though I deleted them straigt away and never intended to recieve them in the first place?

Default Arrested?

Dear p2p man

You asked:

First, I am not a lawyer and have no contact with the legal profession but I can give you my layman's opinion based on British law, having recently served on a jury.

Pornography is not illegal in the UK, except (quite rightly) KP and some other objectionable stuff, so you cannot be arrested for using or distributing such material.

Next, British law is based on intent, i.e. did you intentionally download this (theoretically) proscribed material. Since you deleted this stuff once it was downloaded then “intent” cannot be proved.

However, since (I believe) you live in the US and our laws are similar, unless you live in a state that has legislated against this sort of porn, then you should be OK.

Default Unintentional as well

I went into the filters and typed the word to filter out of my searches, like preteen and incest, but downloading adult files that are labeled wrong was a problem. Some files look like they could be underage. There gone off of my computer along with limewire, but i'm a little scared now. Just looking at adult content on the web you get linked to the wrong kind of sites sometimes, I always report them to the http://asacp.org and let them try to get it off, but it's scary. Be carefull what you download, you never know whats out there.
