HOw do u figure out you ip address? im so lost.. i want to direct connect my friend.. but neither of us know how to do this.

i went to that website and it showed an i.p. address but is that mine or someone else's? does anyone know how to get an i.p. address? im also confused

That website shows your IP address to you.

You can also find it in LW Under the Search Tab. You will see a tab there that says direct connect towards the bottom left. If you click that tab you will see your IP address there.

Your friend can find their IP address the same way. Your friend's IP address is what you need to enter in your LW direct connect box to direct connect to your friend. Your friend will need to enter your IP address in their direct connect box to direct connect to you.

ok i went there i still dont see my ip address but it says that my computer is behind a firewall and can not recieve direct connections. any suggestions?

You need to configure your firewalls to allow LimeWire full access both TCP and UDP. Instructions can be found here. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

If this doesn't help provide the following information:

Computer type and CPU
Operating System and sp (MAC,Win98)
LimeWire Version
Java Version
Firewalls
Modem type and model no.
Router type and model no.
