What is a codec??

i have windows player and divx, i can play some movies but some i cant becuase i dont have a certqin codec. how do i know which codec i need and how to get it??

Toughcookie,
Do a search for FFDSHOW, download it, install and then run it. This will hopefully fix your problem with some movies you can't view.
