Default The Illegal bit???

Hi Everyone

Recently I found out that downloading music on Lime Wire isn't illegal. However actually redistributing the music is illegal. Am I right so far...?

So everytime I start Lime Wire does my computer automatically release any files to others to download or do I have to select this option???

Thank You anyone......please (reply)

N.B. I aknowledge this is a dumass question. Thanks for reading.

Have a look around the forums. The legality of downloading has been extensivly discussed. Basically downloading and redistributing any copyrighted materal (music, video, pictures, ect.) IS illegal. However, I think that it's fair to say that most of us do not believe that - myself included (Fu|ck the RIAA!!). It's really up to you. If you think that it is "morally/ethically wrong" than you shouldn't do it. You'll probably never be caught if you download "illegally". Good luck.

Post The Law

In my local paper, a young girl's father has just been landed with a £2500 bill for downloading/sharing music that she had on her PC.
He was, without a doubt, unlucky; but it can happen.

Do you know who gets those £2500? The lawyers and the managers. The artists won't get a fvcking cent of it.

The last I knew, about 1000 people had been indicted for downloading copyrighted files. That's only 1000 out of the millions of people that download "illegally". That leaves the chances of you or me getting caught very slim. I think that it has nothing to do with protecting artists works. It is all about the greed of the recording industry (RIAA).
