Wink Incomplete files, and adware?

Hi. I've just started using Limewire and have 2 questions please.

1st, I have a file from limewire called "Incomplete" inside are 2 files that I can't delete and I would like to know why and what are they? downloads.dat and downloads.bak - each are 2KB.

2nd, Limewire states is has no adware yet, on some websites it is descibed as being adware itself and having adware bundled in programs. 2 examples of such sites are Tucows and CA Spyware Information Center at www.3a.ca.com
I would like to know why Limewire states to be adware free. These 2 websites are reputable sites as far as I've known.

Can anyone help me out please?

Thank you.

First, the incomplete folder is where your downloads are stored until they are complete. The .dat and .bak files store information about your downloads, and are meant to be there (anyone is free to add to that...). Second, LimeWire is completly ad free. Some programs detect all P2P programs as adware, such as PestPatrol. But don't worry, LW does not install any adware on your computer. I reccomend using either Ad-Aware or Spybot as you anti-spyware/adware software. Good luck.

Default Thank You

Deep Blue,

Sorry, but I just now had the chance to come back and check the board.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate you taking the time.

But I don't understand why I can't delete the files in Incomplete.
Do you know?

You can delete the files, but LW will just write them to that folder again. To my knowledge they contain information about the files you download, that way you can resume downloading an incomplete file. When you delete these files that information will be lost and you'll have to start incomplete files from the beginning again. DO NOT delete these files! They are meant to be there, and are critical to the correct operation of LimeWire! I hope that this answers your question. Good luck.
