![]() Hi, I'm kind of freaked out. I have set it up so my limewire tunes are showing up in my itunes source folder section. The think that is freaking me out is that there is now a new folder on my source list that says "Johns Limewire Tunes". This folder has a whole slew of music that i never downloaded. I am the only person in this house and the only person using my computer. Is my computer being hi-jacked thourgh limewire? Or is this something I can resolve. Please Help |

![]() John is someone on your local network (which may be your whole dorm if you're in a dorm, your apartment, your neighborhood WiFi, etc..) that is using LimeWire. LimeWire advertises its shared tunes the same way that iTunes does, so that other iTunes users can stream the music. |

![]() Thanks... When you say network are you talking about my wireless network? Also, I have some additional questions: 1. does this mean that this person can access other files on my computer? 2. I thought the itunes was a non-sharing thing. I thought that all the music you buy is direct from itunes. Is that not so? 3. When I open my limewire folding in itunes I'm not able to drag that music to other playlists. Do you know how I can do this? 4. Is there a way that I can safe guard myself with Lime Wire so that no one can hack into my other files. Or is it just enough to only link whats in the shared folder? Thanks for you help! ![]() 0) Any network including wireless network (aka WLAN, WiFi) 1) Not thru iTunes Sharing 2) Mac user go here and Windows user go here 3) You can't (see also #2) 4) Huh? LimeWire shares only files that are in the Shared folder or rather what you've configured in the Settings. And it makes sure nobody can access files that are outside of this folders thru LimeWire. There are however so many ways to gain access to a computer/network that are not related to LimeWire. Bad passwords, security holes, buffer overflows and the #1 reason are not properly configured network applications and devices. The latter seems to be your case! John is either connected to your Wireless Access Point or you are maybe connected to Johns. Wireless Network Cards with default configuration tend to pick Access Points with the strongest signal. |
