ok I love this program and have used it for some time.

I recently downloaded a file scanned it and was clean.. upon doubleclicking on the file inside the .rar file.
norton said virus found and deleted it.

great but after which I was hit buy system congestion

I've run virus and spyware scans repeatedly.. and think it's been removed.

but now something is making limewire open all by itself.. I shut it down then two minutes later it starts back up.. strange but perhaps you guys no what's going on and how I can rid myself of this problem

I am having the same problem, I opened a file after scanning it and once it was opened the virus was detected and consequently deleted or so I thought!!!

After that incident Limewire is starting automatically every few minutes it connects and it starts generating uploads, when I see the uploads window in limewire nothing shows, but in the background it looks like it is pulling files from my system using limewire.

I have also scanned my PC with antivirus and spybot it found new malware and viruses, which I deleted; I have unistalled limewire before running the above applications, downloaded a fresh copy of lime wire and when installing it, it is like two installers of limewire run at the same time and it STILLS opens automatically!!

This is frustrating please HELP, I love limewire and I hate not being able to use it!!

Did you get your LW from here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml or somewhere else?

Which spyware did you use? Not all are recommended to use with p2p sharing programs as some don't work properly & mis-identify some files such as magnets, & some spykillers even have spyware themselves.

I did download LW from the LW website and that exact link, see the problem started after the opening of the file that we have described above.

It is has to do with the Virus it somehow takes control of LW and even after unistalling LW and scanning the PC for viruses it does find about 5 viruses and then it has deleted them, I use Spybot-S&D from: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

This scans the PC and finds some of the malware installed such as: pro scan, 1800, and locthbar I think!

PLEASE HELP!!

I too am having the same problem exactly as you bothe described. Have done same , uninstalled, run virus scan and MS antispyware. but to no avil it keeps turning itself on.
Anyone have any clue?

I have also noticed i cannot CTRL-ALT-DeL either. I didnt think that was stopable but there you go. I saw an article on the BBC talking about a virus that is takes control of your pc and uses it to bombard some corperate websites...

another thing i noticed is that it seems we are all using Norton?

Hey guys, I got the same problem last week. What I did was uninstalled Limewire, ran a scan with Ad-Aware se and it did find things Spybot did'nt.After scan reinstalled Limewire and it ran fine.
One more thing, some asshollish german guy has just infected every file on limewire with the worm/wurmark. The actual file size is 851.7. Everything that I have tried to look for is nothing but this crap. If I find the guy, oh he's gettin an *** kickin. Good luck
