Default Java - Problem?

Well apparently you need Java to run Limewire at all. However I've installed is previously and erased it by simply deleting it and putting it in the recycle basket about 3 weeks or so ago. However the very problem I have now is it is still in my add/remove program screen and everytime I wish to uninstall it by pressing on the add/remove tab it installs.

That is initially a good thing. However I dont have a folder to get some of the information needed to reinstall. So what exactly can I do?

Has anyone come across this problem? Has anyone ever had a problem similiar to this?

Never heard of that before. Uninstall it. Then redownld the Java & save it to your comp (don't install over the net!), then re-install it. Get Java from here: http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...radejava.shtml

I had read here that having java5 would give me faster dowload speeds. So, I downloaded it and installed it and did it mess things up.

First, I was not able to go into my Quitnet chat room as the java they use was different than the new one. Then I tried to open limewire and I couldn't. Now i'm freaking cause I want my limewire. lol

I uninstalled java 5 and all was fine but now every so often, I get a pop up message from limewire to upgrade java... I think not. lol

You should have at least Java 1.4.2: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html (Choose the JRE) Apparently either Java 1.5 or 1.4.2 doesn't work well one some people's systems so it's better to use the other version. As long as you have at least Java 1.4.2 you should be fine!
