Default LimeWire: Biggest leechers in the P2P world.

I've just read this over on the Morpheus Forums, and come to think of it, i 100% agree with it, this is so true!

Nice, you name yourself after a scam site that exploits and ruins LimeWire's reputations and now you propagate stupid crap like that? Shame on you, *******. I hope your post gets erased. Morpheus contributed absolutely nothing to Gnutella, so get the fvck out of here.

Is that why they finance GnucDNA development and contribute to its development as well?

Besides, this has nothing to so with contributing to Gnutella, this has to do with contributing to the fight for future P2P! All LimeWire have done is given nothing back, but drawn in all the users and glory and limelight from it!
This is why Morpheus has had to include bundled software, ad banners and popup for so long, this is why Grokster, BearShare have to still bundle software with their installers, this is why eDonkey had to have opt-out bundles for so long, while LimeWire are like "Oh, look how great we are, we don’t want our users to have to install fu**king Spyware on their computers, we've just left Morpheus & Grokster to fight in court and pay $4,000,000 in legal costs (and counting)!

This is one reason why Morpheus & Grokster should be respected in the p2P world.

I don't see a lot happening with GnucDNA. I doubt that they "finance" it, they might have licensed it. They have never ever contributed to anything at the Gnutella Development Forum. Their software is full of bugs and they do not react at all to such issues. All they do is paying some **** poor coders to rip-off free software and glue it together to support a bazillion of P2P networks in order to leech. They've killed dozens of GWebCaches but I've never seen them providing any GWebCache.

Hail LimeWire for not including Spy- and Adware even in the free version. Hail LimeWire for offering the complete sources under the GPL. Hail LimeWire for improving the Gnutella protocol and keeping it an open protocol. LimeWire has become the most popular vendor for Gnutella not because they scam the web or rip-off other's work but because they actively develop Gnutella and support other vendors too. Just read the GDF archive and look at all innovations that came from LimeWire and others (but not Morpheus). How dare you call them leeches? They are the market leader but are still absolutely fair towards other vendors. Compare that to any other market, please.

If Morpheus gets sued that's their problem. As far as I recall, they have won the case. I have no clue why they have to pay 4 million dollars then.

Nobody needs Morpheus to speak for them or defend "the future of P2P".

i'll be laughing in LimeWire' face when the court says P2P is illegal and LimeWire plus others will need to shut down **** Gnutella, because once this court says P2P is illegal, LimeWire wont be able to do jack **** to improve it.

There is not much financing going on as far as I can tell. The GnucDNA project is still driven by John Marshall as its only developer and he doesn't even seem to work on GnucDNA full-time. GnucDNA is currently updated maybe once or twice a month and is generally a year behind at implementing new Gnutella protocol extensions.

Morpheus was already down before LimeWire ever became that popular and before the RIAA began its legal proceedings against Streamcast, if you want to blame drawing all the users on someone, blame it on Kazaa. You don't really expect LimeWire to help Fasttrack in its legal battle, but Morpheus is like completely different?

Now you're blaming LimeWire for not bundling crap with their installer? Are you insane?

It's unfortunate for Morpheus that they were sued and it's unfortunate that Kazaa kicked them from the Fasttrack network to take all their users but I really don't see why LimeWire is morally obliged to support Morpheus financially.
Of course, I don't know the reasoning behind LimeWire LLC's decisions but if I was on of the people who invested into LimeWire, it would have to be very profitable for me to decide to burn money at court.

That's exactly the kind of attitude I expect from people like you. For what it's worth, if "P2P" becomes illegal in the US it's still legal in the rest of the world. So even if commercial US vendors have to give up, everybody else in the world can continue with business. Trust me, the whole world would be laughing at the US if they declare "P2P" illegal. That's really utter nonsense. It's about as hysterical as the SCO vs. Linux case.

Gnutella can do fine without commercial vendors anyway, if it must.

And I'll be laughing in the face of the court because LimeWire is open-source and whether LimeWire LLC can be held liable for it or not doesn't concern me since the LimeWire software & source code is out there.

Lawyers don't usually work for free.

You don't have to pay an assigned counsel. You don't even have to use a lawyer. Even a 12 year old would be able to win this case.

In any case, it's plain wrong that (or rather if) you need money to get to your right in the court. That's a shame.
