Alright, i know you just posted this guide and i know im going to sound stupid but i didnt quite understand some of the posts and i just wanted to make sure, can you get a virus from a normal mp3 with, for example, 4.3284 megs? Cause i have had limewire for like 2 days and i havent found one virus yet, and i am being very careful, and i also have some questions about the ...(Insert Down arrow here) next to the stars on a song, there are numbers under that and i wanted to know what they meant, i think the higher the better, but im still not sure. I currently have limewire 4.18.3 if that makes a difference. I hope you guys can help me im new to limewire and i need some help. Thanks!

Got milk?

***EDIT: Sorry i didnt see that there are several pages in this topic, i will check that next time.

If you download a regular song that is mp3 it will usually be about 2,000kb - 6,000kb. If you start seeing songs that are like 105kb or even smaller like 43kb even on up to maybe the upper hundreds, I wouldn't download it. That stuff is usually spyware or viruses.

Ok but what about the column after quality that has the "...(down arrow)" thing, it has numbers in that column on some songs, what does that mean?

I got this Trojan virus and AVG is scanning my computer right and it has been for almost two hours!! Is this normal? I have around 10,500 threats and no idea when the scan will finish. I have to say I am a little nervous that there are so many threats. I have used LimeWire for probably 2 years now and I must have accidently downloaded a zip file. Please dont bring ur sarcasim when replying, thanks. Is this a normal scan time? Normal amount of threats?

Default Downloading Limewire contains a virus

I just downloaded the limewire 4.18.3 program and my antivirus program caught a trojan in the program. I have XP and am using Embarq Online Security. I quarantined it but am not sure if the program will work or not. Any suggestions?

Just a little tip Internet Security Do's not work all the time and The best thing i can say is You need other stuff other than AVG it is a very good program i have been useing it for 8 years all ways picked up more stuff than most programs do that's be cause they keep up dating every day or min unlike surton other Anti virus programs. But all so you might have more than you no Get your self AD-Aware Se Personal and SpyBot SD And System Mechanic 7 These programs i trust and use every day if i would not use them every day then i would have like 50,000 things going wrong.
Here is some Links.

Be careful with what you download - check file sizes & file extensions. See the threads below for more info.
Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see).
* WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of ! *

Make sure that you're using a good AV program. Keep it updated & use it to scan all files that you download - before you open them. Which AV are you using? If it's not able to deal well with the viruses that you're finding, the second link above has more links to online scans. Or the post below has links to some good freeware.

Hi, I am a new member (about 30 minutes!), and have read this thread because last week I got a Trojan virus, and was advised to uninstal Limewire, which I've used for many years without any major problems. I admit I'm not very computer literate, and don't understand some of the terms used here, but I'm willing to try. I found the advise you've given very helpful, especially from Sphinx, who stated clearly what to avoid. My problem is I'm really missing Limewire, but if I re instal it will I risk infecting my computer with the virus again, I've ran a security scan every day this week, and per Norton 360 don't have the virus. A big problem for me is I'm living in Central Europe at the minute and trying to get help from someone who knows about computers and speaks English is very difficult Sorry if this sounds elementary to you all. Thanks
