Is Limewire Illegal??

I HAVE HEARD ABOUT ACTIONS TAKEN BY THE US GOVERMENT TO MAKE MUSIC SHARING (P2P) ILLEGAL. SINCE LIMEWIRE IS A P2P, DOES THIS MAKE LIMEWIRE IN THE US ILLEGAL??
