Default lost/found files

I use limewire 24/7....... I have just realised something is wrong?!
My Library is saying that I am sharing 654 files, however when I have manually counted the files that I am sharing it is a grand total of 80!

Does anyone know why this is and indeed what I am sharing, I have gone into tools, sharing - that is set to my limewire/shared folder which only contains these 80 files......

Any help would be greatfully received...

Go to Tools>Options>Uploads>Basic & is the option to share incomplete files ticked? If yes then this is probably why. Also you can check by viewing the Library window to see exactly what folders you're sharing.

Default lost/found files

Hi - I checked to see if I am allowing incomplete sharing and I am not...... When I checked my library to see whats being shared it is still only the 80!
I do an awful lot of d/l's, but I delete the files as soon as I have done 'whatever' with them..... Is there a way they are not really being removed from my computer?
I am running windows xp - and if I remember rightly Lord of the Rings - you are a mac man?!......

LOTR is usually right on, and was making sure as that is a common problem.

But you may have a virus also. Check this link out.

How'd you know that! hahaha lol

It could be due to invisible files. I realised something similar on the mac just days ago. Go to your downld folder & turn on the option to show all hidden extensions. You might be surprised. There's ways to make files invisible on different os's. Depending what level they work at. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...9587#post99587

Default damn hidden files

Ok -
I am still having trouble trying to find these damn hidden files - I have gone in and changed my folder options to show hidden files.
Why O Why can I still not find them?

I am expecting them to be bunched up and come and hit me in the face and say 'here we are' - but they are not!! GRRR....

My limewire library is using 12.5gb on my hard drive - these hidden files are taking almost 50gb -

I even went onto a windows forum to ask how to find them which ended up in me being slated for 'stealing etc' - (but no response to my problem).....

It is beginning to bug me now, Limewire still says I am sharing almost 700 files the actual number should be around 60.....

please someone help me. I dont consider myself dumb usually when it comes to pc issues - but this has seriously got me foxed, so any replies will have to be aimed at a simple level.

Thanks in advance

You're not sharing the contents of your hard drive by any chance? When you set up LW it gives you the option of searching your hard drive for certain files.

One option could be to delete your personal limewire folder in documents and settings/user name (not the LW folder in program files). Then restart LW and set up all your preferences again, and pay attention to when LW asks if you want it to search your computer - choose "NO" - you may find you are suddenly only sharing the 80 or so you expect to find. I'd wait to do this though, to see if anyone else thinks this is a good idea.

Hmmm interesting I have a couple of questions.

1. Do you have administartive priviliges for the account you are doing this from?

2. Have you tried doing a search in safe mode?

When you start you computer before windows starts press the F8 key. It should give you options how to start windows then select safe mode.

midnight_blue I think if the hard drive was being shared it would show in the libray.

one last after thought how many icomplete files are you showing in the icomplete folder in the library?

Yes I have the admin rights to the pc......
I will try the safe mode in a bit, what exactly should I be searching for?
And as for the incomplete files there are about 30, which still doesn't add up......
When I go to library the only files which show up are the ones I should be sharing........................

TT girl I really don't know what to tell you to search for. Try searching for the file types you have been downloading.

It seems more and more to me like you downloaded a virus or the computer has been infested with spyware.

search the forums for adaware, spybot, and anit-virus programs.
You will find several posts on these with links. Most are free or have trial versions. you can also google these on the internet.
