Thumbs down Porn

Hi, I am new to Lime Wire Services, have only been using it to download for about a week and already it is flooded with porn. I can't find what I'm searching for as this is always in the way. I can see other people have this problem too, but does anyone have a solution? Lime Wire? Can you help?

Thanks!!!

Charlie

Start right clicking on the files in question and click the option block host

This apparently doesn't work! The sites that are spamming the network have so many IPs addresses that a user cannot block them all.

It's easier to just put commonly found words that are in the porn files and putting them into the Filters. I have not had any porn show up in my searches since.

More about using Filters here: Have a look thru the following thread & see the tips to help solve your problem (particularly page 2): Weird results from searches (click on link)

I know this may not be the most helpful reply you are going to get, but it is probably the most realistic.

The fact is porn and the internet go hand in hand, yes you can block IPs, block specific words in your search, etc., but for everyone of you out there who is trying to rid their computer of porn, there is 100 people in the world paid to get around whatever tact you have come up with to stop it.

Best advise I can seriously give you is to get over it. Yes it's annoying, yes it clogs up the screen whilst searching for what you are really looking for, but unfortunately that's the way it is. You'll have as much luck channel surfing the T.V. to avoid advertisments as you will avoiding porn when downloading files on a P2P network.

Sorry for the negativity

There are a couple of factors that make this more than Internet spam:

1) It happened suddenly.

2) Searches are returning results that have no words in common with user-input keywords, ie the user inputs "Walter Cronkite" and gets back 100 porn files that do not have "walter Cronkite" in their file descriptions, something is very wrong, but very new.

My working theory now is that a programmer working for LimeWire has hacked the program.
