new user in trouble! Hi, I am a new PC user, and joined Limewire yesterday. I use Windows XP and have ADSL. I thought I bought Pro as well as Limewire - this is what I got in the "welcome" email from Limewire "Pro Version Upgrade - Movie Codec Pack for a total of £9.97 GBP" But I keep getting messages asking me to upgrade to Pro. Can anyone help me in VERY simple language please, I'm easily confused! Thanks |
Hi maggieann, Please check into the LimeWire Forums for this question: The Limewire forums are here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/forum...=&forumid=7 But choose your section carefully. Do NOT post in the Beta section unless your are using the LW Beta version & have comments to make about it. Thank you! |
new user in trouble! thanks for this reply, but I'm afraid I got the error message "can't find the page" when I tried to click on the link or cut and paste it. Sorry to be a nuisance. |
Hmmm looks like you got scammed. check this link out. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=28751 The basic version of LimeWire is free and can be downloaded here. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml BTW: I moved your post to proper forum. |
new user in trouble! thanks for this, I'm here now. Are you saying that I could use Limewire for free, maybe a reduced service, but at no cost? Forgive what may sound like a stupid question please! |
Hi, LimeWire is free, it only nags you, when you don't pay, but nothing more. OK, one thing: The free version has only 3 UP connections and doesn't download as aggressively as the Pro version, but it is fully functional and doesn't contain any scam (as far as I know). LW is open source and GPL, making it to full of scam would result in someone else compiling it without scam, and that would be completely legal. |
