m3u is simply a playlist file. It is a list of the song titles that point to the location of the song files. m3u files do not contain music. They are simply a document pointer file. But be wary because if you move or delete a song file AFTER you create a playlist, the playlist won't work.

Don't know. It might be related to your audio player default settings. When you say save as, you're refering to downlding it right, not using the LW media player's playlist function? The playlist function in LW will only save the file as an m3u file.

So what is your default audio player?

I'm guessing you are talking about the LW media player playlist function yes or no?

If yes, then yes that's the only option the LW media player playlist offers. Other audio players on your comp should be able to open that m3u playlist file on condition you haven't moved or deleted the location of any of the songs.

However, if you want to move the songs to another computer, then you'll need to move the actual song files, not the playlist. If you want to move the m3u playlist files then you need to put the mp3 songs & the m3u playlists in the same directories as they were on the 1st computer.

To find your mp3 downlds, the default save location is here: C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared

However you check this by goin to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Saving & see the location there.

For fast, quick access to your mp3 downlds, go to LW's Library window, select Saved Files & press the Explore button & this will open the folder up for you. It may be worth clicking on the Shared folder once this folder has opened up since there will be more mp3's there also.

(BTW have a look at the bottom of the iTunes/iPod Sticky at the top of this section to find out about the LW media player's playlist function.)

As I thought, you're saving the playlist. But if you only select the song & press Save As ... you're saving an empty playlist file. The save as... only applies to the playlist function. To get songs over to the playlist you need to enqueue them 1st. And remember this is only a playlist. (More about how to use LW's playlist at the bottom of this thread: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes))

So you are transfering empty m3u files or just moving the playlist files but not the actual song files. What you need to do is move the actual songs to the other computer. Whilst within the LW Library window, select Saved Files & press the Explore button & the folder will open for you. Then you can copy & paste these mp3 files over to your other computer.
