is it possible to get version 4.8 back after getting 4.9? 4.9 may work faster but it takes 30 000 more kb of ram. i want 4.8 back

You are the first person I have heard say that. You must have some kind of configuration or bad java install problem. Because in the beta testing I have done shows that the 4.9 series almost never goes above 70MB the 4.8 series would frequently go above 100MB. How many MB of memory is LW uesing. And which version of LW? and by the way 30,000kb=30MB

it works bad. and now it isn't even connecting. i want the one before 4.9. it was like 4.8.1. it worked better for me. i could run it oin the backround and still do other things but i can't with this one

Go to search type in keyword LimeWire but I have a feeling it won't make any difference. There is something wrong that needs to be fixed first or the problem will probably just transfer over to 4.8.1 but you can give it a try.

Actually, when I first joined the forum I asked the samething. Dont know why it sounds like an unusual request on here? Sometimes the new versions stink and you wish to go back to a previous install that worked better. Its called having a choice.

Yes it is called having a choice. But from what I understand the older versions are slowing the newer versions. I do not think that is a literal statement I know that the newer versions work better than the old I have been testing betas since 4.2 I believe. And my DL capabilities have increased by more than 100% on a every day basis. Most of the problems people are having when upgrading are associated with either java install , Firewall, or configuration. If people are willing to take the time and effort to work on them most can be fixed. Allot of the problems are coming from people getting there LimeWire from scam sites.
And I don't know for sure but I have a feeling that allot of the problems may be coming from people DL pro from the P2P net. I know for a fact that there are corrupt versions of pro on the p2p net because before I bought pro I DL pro from the net and guess what it really screwed my LimeWire DL speeds up. And lets face it there are allot of pirates out there that if given the choice will take something for free before paying for it. Any way the way I understand it if everybody would upgrade the net would be faster due to efficiencies.

I use basic. The only place Ive ever downloaded Limewire is from the official site. Basic 4.9.11. Im not fond of it though. I miss the kill feature and wish it had a push feature or at least ping thats my only gripe.

I use Bearshare Lite and LW for dling music. not the top 40 either. I had to resort to these apps after the old Napster went bust. Im no stranger to Limewire though. I had used it long before it came with the java stuff they make you install. I remember it when it had banners and all that crap in it and thats why I had stuck with Bearshare Lite for a long time. Im just getting back into LW though.

I agree with you on that cos when you read the download forum I cant helpbut wonder how someof these kids that have no experience in P2P are buying Pro out of the blue. Ive used this app for a long time now. Just recently getting used to the newer interface of LW basic.

you might want to give 4.9.28 a try they seem to have gotten allot of the bugs worked out other than the occasional disconnect running in UPnP mode as a leaf. There is still the problem of if a file goes to needing more sources it will usually sit there until you either hit resume or do a manual search then it will usual find sources and complete.If I remember correctly 4.9.11 was a memory hog 100+MB the most I have seen 4.9.28 use is 78MB right now I am running as a UP with 30 and 15 connected and 5 UL at 40kb not DL anything it is using 72MB no bad compared to earlier versions.
Also for some reason I haven't seen one corrupt music file with this version perhaps the luck of the draw.

I was on it tonight and to my surprise was dling at a normal speed for a change lol. I'll wait a bit before installing the new release. Im not keen on dling something fresh out of the gate.

I just wish we could kill or ping.
