unsure I just got limewire (4.9.28) and I have an ethernet connection but I hardly ever see another ethernet connection. I was wondering how I can find more connections of this type because I download really slowly from all other types of connection. Thanks |
Can you explain your problem a little better please!? What type of connection are you using? Dial up, cable, broadband, or are you connected to the internet via a LAN network? |
How can you tell if someone else has an ethernet connection? Because I, too use the ethernet cable. |
It is a local area connection, or something. It goes at about modem speed (unfortunatley) but it goes really fast when I download the songs/movies/whatever with the blue stars. I wanted to know how I could find more songs/movies/whatever with blue stars because I can hardly find any and there isn't any point downloading anything at modem speed. |
The blue stars means that it is downlding from a LAN. But you could only get blue stars from a LAN, not from outside the LAN. ie: you're connecting locally via ethernet with ethernet speeds. So connecting outside of the LAN you'll only get the speeds you normally get. You'll only get those speeds again if other people on the LAN are sharing files also. |
Are you saying that the ethernet cable only gives you 'modem speed'? Well... then I guess I'm pretty damned lucky! Ever since I switched from the USB to ethernet I've found that my connection speed is much quicker than what it use to be. |
Watch your language CyberStalker ... I used the "D" word on the apple discussion groups and they wouldn't post it!:D |
Are you serious?? That word is mild compared to what some people in the forum have written. |
In that is it true? ....yes I'm serious. At that point I gave up ... I couldn't find the damn word to change it <GG> in that am I giving you a telling off? :D :D |
*hands bar of soap to Only A Hobo and CyberStalker* re-iterates read forum rules. But any way what LOTR said is correct you can only get ethernet speeds with blue stars and they are wonderful if you get them. Those speeds should be around 400 KB/s and may be even faster depending on your ethernet card and distance from your LAN connection. Outside the LAN you will only get the speed or service you have subscribed to. But remember outside your LAN you can only d/l as fast as the host(s) can upload. |
