Hello everyone, I have a few files i want to share, but i am not able to share for some reason. I put the files in my shared folder and I clicked "share" in my library section in limewire. But when I do a personal search for these files, none of them show up. I type the same name and artist but none of my shared music comes up. Can someone please help clarify and help me make my music available. Thanks

Your own files don't show in regular search results, but they are probably available to anybody else.

Just check your Library again: shared file show in black; unshared files are in red.

After a while, you'll see the hits column count the number of times one of the words in your filenames and info matches a passing query.

thanks, well thats what i figured. but if you really want to go to extra mile to help me out type in artist, type in "DJ LOUIE LOU" and in title, type in "ON MY OWN", "I HEAR MUSIC" OR "GOOD MORNING" those are my three songs. if you download them send me a message! thanks yo

Well, Ihere's the results of a quick search:

So your files were found quite quickly, and someone is using GTKG to share a larger file via modem speeds.

All 4 went to "Need more sources", so I guess the machines were busy. Still, the 69.* host was browseable (can accept incoming connections), so looks like it is set up properly

For others to find and download your files, your LimeWire needs to be connected and running.

Since yours was the host beginning with IP 69. (the rest I omitted for your privacy), you were connected at that time, but if others were downloading from you and using up all your upload slots, then that might explain why I couldn't download.

There is a special case where you can send files even if your LimeWire isn't connected to any other hosts. For example, you can email a link to your files called a magnet link (search these forums for "magnet" for the details on how to get LimeWire to make a magnet that you can send to others).

Magnet links are special, but we aren't allowed to post them in this forum. As long as your computer is connected to the internet and LimeWire is running, your LimeWire will send the file to a magnet request, even if LimeWire isn't connected to any hosts. Cool, eh?

LW just needs to be connected to other hosts in order to give replies to regular searches. I just wanted to point out that magnet requests are a little different.
